Prof. M. Mac Craith’s
Illustrated Compendium of Ocean Mythology
A fully risographed hand stitched children’s publication
based on the fictional life of Prof. M. Mac Craith, a marine biologist who
studied mythological sea creatures in the late 1800s.
The pages follow Prof. M. Mac Craith’s studies as he
adventures into the deep sea, researching cool, scary and humorous sea
creatures. The mythological fish were illustrated from descriptions of
a bestiary, later given additional information and personality to strengthen
the narrative of the story.
The publication contains over 25 unique characters and an A3
poster of all the fish, made to encourage creativity, wonder and adventure into
the reader. All layers were illustrated with traditional ink and brush,
then printed with a risograph printer, for an authentic feel that matches the
narrative of the compendium being a replica of Prof. M. Mac Craith’s.
